Java bytecode cross-compilation for iPhone

Just have seen a pretty interesting lecture about Java bytecode cross compilation for iPhone on Google Tech Talks. I assume this may let iPhone developers not to study ObjC (which pretty nice though). I guess it would be interesting to try load such cross-compiled application to real device or even to AppStore. Maybe I will try to do that.
